Humza Kazmi is an associate attorney at the HMA Law Firm where he works as an immigration attorney tackling "tough" cases. Mr. Kazmi joins us with a diverse legal background. Mr. Kazmi worked at the Law Office of Khalid Mahmood, where he worked on asylum, divorce, and bankruptcy matters from October 2014 to September 2015. Prior to that, Mr. Kazmi worked with the DC law firm of Sanford Heisler, LLP, representing employees in individual and class actions involving gender discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, and other civil rights claims from January 2013 through August 2014. He was trained in complex litigation tactics for several plaintiff class-action cases in the wake of several important Supreme Court class action decisions. He conducted trial and appellate litigation in District of Columbia for consumer protection and agency appeal cases.
While at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Law School, he clerked at the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, In addition, Mr. Kazmi was a member of Penn’s Transnational Legal Clinic, representing clients seeking asylum. He was a Senior Editor of the Journal of International Law (Vol. 33), and was the recipient of the Noyes E. Leech Award for International Law. He honed trial advocacy skills on the Penn Law Mock Trial Team, and supplemented his extensive legal curricular activities with the American Constitution Society, the National Security Society, and the Penn Law Civil Rights Project.
Mr. Kazmi speaks fluent Urdu and Hindi, and conversational Spanish.
